Cultural Heritage & Information Technologies: In Search of a New Frontier

César Carreras Montfort (Ed.)

César Carreras Montfort has taken care of assembling a sum total of ten essays contributed by several museologists and IT experts. The essays aim, on the one hand, at mapping the presumably major impact that Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) may have upon Cultural Heritage management and preservation; on the other hand, they aim at introducing readers to some actual situations in which ITC have been already ¿ and successfully ¿ applied to Cultural Heritage management and preservation.
Contributors to the book include Kim Veltmam, Arturo Colorado, José Ramón Alcalá, Isidro Moreno, Luis Hernández, Diego Gutiérrez, Rufino Ferreras, Javier Espadas, Margarida Loran, Francisco Javier Jaén Martínez and José Antonio Mocholí Agües.
The authors discuss ¿ among other relevant issues ¿ the new digital languages, virtual reality technologies and environments, the Internet, hybrid museums, and the use of ITC for teaching purposes.
It is also the purpose of all the experts contributing their essays to the book, to describe the relationship of ITC to Cultural Heritage in its current state ¿ as well as to provide readers with a view of the lines along which both factors should fully and satisfactorily integrate with each other in a nearby future.
